This year, I am going to be going to the spring Gem Show in Tucson, AZ. I’ll be flying down there, so no rock hounding this time, sadly. I’ve been busy lately thinking about what I want to do while there. I started creating a list of the various shows I want to go to using the following site Tucson Gem Show 101 . Printing copies of all the documents I need to attend the wholesale shows as well as copies of my business cards.

I decided it’s also a great idea to write down a list of what my goals are for the show. Since I tend to lean towards writing lists to keep my mind on my goals, I created one for what I want to accomplish while I’m in Tucson, AZ. Here’s an abbreviated list of those goals:
- Connect with miners
- Connect with suppliers for materials
- Create one piece of jewelry daily; select essential tools and materials to bring
- Watch for equipment to cut, polish, and tumble rocks
- Have fun!
I’m seriously looking forward to the shows. While there, with luck, I’ll be able to meet up with a miner from Montana that I’ve been talking to on Instagram for a while now and who knows might make connections there as well. I’m going to take pictures and videos where I can as I walk around so I can post here, Instagram @chrissyrockhunts and Facebook. I want to share what there is to offer by the various vendors, shows and people I come across. I love sharing the excitement of going to something like this. Many years ago I watched a documentary on the Gem Show in Tucson, AZ and from that point I’ve always wanted to go.
After going to Tucson, AZ for the show a few years ago I had ideas of what I wanted to do with the business. This time going, I have a better idea about the direction where I see my business currently and it’s growth in the future. I see the improvement I’ve had in the years since I started making jewelry again and it makes me happy and proud of myself. It requires a certain level of fearlessness to put yourself out there and engage with strangers about your work. I find very little fear when discussing the things I enjoy with others. As my family often mentions, I’m a chatty Cathy who delights in conversing with people.
Let me know if you plan on attending the show and would like to meet up for coffee or something including walking around a show or 2. If you like my blog, please let me know by liking it, following and leaving me a comment.
